Pinterest, social networking’s latest rising star, can be hard for event organisers to pin down. So what is it and could it be a worthwhile addition to your social media mix? In brief, Pinterest is a souped-up social pinboard organiser. It’s a very visual social network where users can create, browse and follow themed online pinboards covering all manner of topics.
What you see when you log in doesn’t look a lot like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or any of the other mainstream social networks most people know. In fact, it more closely resembles the front page of an e-commerce store, or one of those pictorial round-ups of designer products you see in the Sunday supplements - lots of colourful, striking images to draw the eye, with text content relegated to low-key (and generally short) captions that don’t detract from the visual impact.
How does it work?
